'Angel's Mission' (1989) Dir Godfrey Ho. 

'Angel's Mission' is an enjoyably boisterous B-Movie blend of Heroic Bloodshed and equally rapid-fire Kung Fu mayhem! Low budget maverick, Ho has assembled a solid cast, featuring martial arts luminaries, Dick Wei, Ha Chi-chun, Phillip Ko Fei, and another fiesty performance by the legendarily quicksilver queen of acrobatic skull-buggery, Oshima Yukari! Not only is 'Angel's Mission' a ludicrously entertaining punch-packed, squib-happy actioner it also has has one of the most legitimately righteous electro/synth scores I have have heard in quite some time! Like most, Godfrey Ho productions the episodic text plays second fiddle to the gonzo action, and in this instance the plentiful fisticuffs is dynamically choreographed by Phillip Ko!

 

 

'The Batwoman' (1968) aka 'La Mujer Murcielago'. René Cardona.

No slouch when it comes to creating vastly entertaining psychotronic celluloid, René Cordona's Acalpulco-set sizzler 'The Batwoman' is a batso bonkers B-Movie marvel. Generously packed with more voluptuously pulse-pounding thrills than Batwoman's agreeably eye-poppingly bodacious bikini! The singularly strange serial murders of popular wrestlers is linked to the inventively insane, pseudo scientific Sci-fi machinations of plainly psychotic Dr. Williams (Roberto Cañedo). 

The exotic sun splashed locations are certainly no less easy on the eye than vivacious star, Maura Monti as the luminously long-legged Luchador Batwoman. Successfully maintaining her secret identity, Batwoman demonstratively dominates wrestling rings and nefarious crime syndicates with equal ferocity! With a maniacal scientist's inexplicable yen to create a murderous Merman army, fiesty bouts of Female wrestling, and one of the slinkiest crime fighters of all time, Batwoman deliriously delivers the gonzo goods, baby! Midnight movie maestro, Cardona's fabulously far out fighting femme flick is a must-see for fans of 'Kriminal', 'Danger Diabolik', and, Jess Franco's beguilingly outre female fronted spy shenanigans!

 

 

 

 

'Burning Sensation' aka 'Huo zhu gui' (1989) - Wu Ma.

Zestily directed by the legendary, Wu Ma, this inventive, sweetly romantic, unfeasibly charming ghost comedy is a wacky Golden harvest treat! I'm a sucker for super-agile, slapstick-slathered, spook-laden shenanigans, and this exhilarating comedy about kindly fireman Chien (Kenny Bee)salvaging a haunted relic from a fire that releases benign ghost Ling (Carol Cheng) is a high-spirited treat! The energetic performances are excellent, the spooktacular/comedy kung fu set-pieces are beautifully orchestrated, and it's pretty darn funny ta' boot! While the horror elements are somewhat mild, the sultry supernatural siren, Piu-Hung (Yin San Lai) employs a singularly outlandish modus operandi to sinisterly smother her horny male victims!   

 

 

'Cruel Ghost Legend' (1968) – Kazuo Hase.

'Cruel Ghost Legend' is a glacial, exquisitely shot, unrelentingly bleak, surprisingly gruesome supernatural revenge melodrama. This visually stunning, yet somewhat under seen J-Horror classic is certainly no less essential than the equally transfixing Kuroneko (1968). Exemplary filmmaking, engaging performances, crisp B/W photography, a palpable sense of impending dread, and a Raven dark conclusion make, Kazuo Hase's pitiless 'Cruel Ghost Legend' a masterful exercise in haunting terror! 

 

 

El Robo de las Momias de Guanajuato (1972) aka Robbery of the Mummies of Guanajuato. Dir. Tito Novaro.

The evil Count Cagliostro (Tito Novaro), a 500 yr. Old Warlock, and monomaniacal professor Raymond conspire to resurrect the famous mummies of Guanajuato in order to extract Hernium, a preternatural, highly volatile element! Working from their secret, heavily guarded subterranean base they begin their sinister subterfuge, threatening the total destruction of the world if their despotic demands aren't met in full! With the entire civilisation held precariously in the balance, mankind's only hope of salvation is in the heroic triumvirate of muscular masked mancake, Mil máscaras, the no less hypertrophic, Blue Angel and sparky comrade, El Rayo de Jalisco! El Robo de las Momias de Guanajuato (1972) is an action-packed, wonderfully entertaining, divinely ludicrous Luche Libre romp that provides B-Movie fans with a garish generosity of crusty zombie mayhem! Headier psychotronic highlights include the macabre-looking Mummies grisly make-up, Cagliostro's zesty Kung Fu Dwarves, Rafael Carrion's groovy score, the striking Guatemalan locations, and, of course, the lusty Luchador's triumphant battle over the eerie electro-brained zombies! 

 

 

'The Robot Vs. The Aztec Mummy' (1958) Dir. Rafael Portillo.

 

If anyone had told me that the blissfully psychotronic sequel to, Rafael Portillo's boundlessly fun creepy-creaky classic was equally as brillo, I would have smashed out their duplicitous think sponge with hammers!!!!! INCREDIBLY, 'The Robot Vs. The Aztec Mummy' (1958) is a hugely entertaining B-Movie Bobby Dazzler! I mean no disrespect to the estimable super villain, Dr. Krupp's (Luis Aceves Castañeda) plan for world domination, but, may I humbly suggest that an attack robot with articulated knee joints would be a distinct improvement, big guy!
