I have long regarded the 'Subspecies' tetralogy to be one of the higher quality, yet frequently misunderstood Grisly-Gothic franchises, a dislike, perhaps, borne of an innate prejudice in snootier filmic quarters to Full Moon Pictures more lurid output. Either way, Ted Nicolaou's hugely atmospheric Bloodsucker bacchanal has maintained all its darkly romantic allure! The fangtastic Subspecies remains wholly essential midnight movie viewing to rabidly carotid craving, perversely plasma purloining fledglings of all ages!

Once uncomfortably ensconced in the majestic confines of medieval castle Vladislas our charming trio of perky, scholastically inclined protagonists soon discover to their increasingly creepy chagrin that the ancient local vampire legends are anything but anecdotal! The deliciously diabolical, Radu (Anders Hove) now deliriously drunk on the insidious powers afforded him by the mystical Bloodstone wishes to turn the sensually studious scream queens into his own personal harem of grievously pale, diaphanously clad murder minions! It is down to his heroic, love-struck half-brother, Stefan (Michael Watson) loyal castle caretaker, Karl (Ivan J. Rado) to thwart, Radu's morbid, blood-thirsty bacchanal. But how do you kill an unearthly abomination that exists far beyond the mortal parameters of life and death? 

This enthralling, tremendously atmospheric vampire tale, much like its monstrous nemesis, Radu is riotously rendered into bloody, wide-scream life with a cinematic gusto by gifted genre filmmaker, Nicolaou, ably assisted by an equally remarkable cast and crew! The doomily evocative, other-worldly Romanian locations having an ominous verisimilitude that increases the darkly oppressive milieu wherein the craven, crypt-dwelling prince Radu's perpetrates his evil scheming!

'Subspecies' is a full-bloodied terror tipple with morgue bite than most! But you might lose more than your head when you awaken these immortally hungering undead....But it could be tomb much for your throat to bare as wicked Prince Radu unleashes his mesmerizing Vampire stare!'
