'Moonraker' (1979) - Lewis Gilbert.
'Moonraker' is a celestially camp Sci-Spy classic that blasts the earth-bound naysayers into moon dust with its astranomical abundance of far-flung, moon-spun, far-fetched fight scenes, and maestro, John Barry's cosmic score is out-of-this-world! Many blissless Bond wags have accused Broccoli of 'moonraking' the bottom of the Bond barrel with his kitsch 1979 outing, regarding it to be little Moore than a star bore!??? Whereas, I sincerely believe it has a universal appeal, mny turgidly terrestrial actioners lack! Don't be a sour-faced Sputnik, ignore all the negative comets, as Lewis Gilbert's star-studded 'Moonraker' is a Van Allen belter of a spaced-out spy yarn! Heroically handsome space captain, Roger Moore and his slinky sidekick, Lois Chiles puts a rocket in your pocket as they boldly go further than ever before! Moonraker's boy's own yarn frequently bedazzles with its eye-popping panopoly of gravity-defying stunts, vertinginous cliffhangers, and Roger Moore's other wordly charm, and garrulous personality, always leaves me with a lazer-beaming smile!
