'Dolls' (1986) - Stuart Gordon.
The
much-loved Horror iconoclast Stuart Gordon's divinely twisted terror
tale about the grisly goings on within the creepily isolated house of an aged, twinkle-eyed
octogenarian couple, and the diminutive denizens of diabolical doom
that luridly litter their crumbling mansion, ostensibly looking like
a child's innocent toy collection, and in this wickedly warped witch
house, what happens next is definitely not a fairy tale! Due to an
especially tempestuous storm, a disparate group of rain-beleaguered
travellers seek shelter in this alien abode, and finding their
hospitable hosts initially so obliging, the bickering ill-matched
couple, the delightfully cartoonish mockney New Wave tarts, an
adorably imaginative, Teddy-towing tyke, and a naïve man-child
proceed to have a very unsettling night, wherein only those pure of
heart might, perhaps, survive the wrath of these devastatingly
demonic dolls! While deceptively small, Stuart Gordon's singularly horrific
horror film is perfectly deformed, and 'Dolls' will make a mannequin
of you, being one of maestro Gordon's most inventively insane, eye-poppingly lurid nightmares, that once screamed, cannot be
un-screamed!!!!!!
