'Annabelle Comes Home' (2019) – Gary Dauberman.
I REALLY wanted to dig this one, honest guv', I really did! As ever since I was a wee mischievous murder-mite I genuinely adored hysterical horror films about despicable dollies, tyrannical terror toys, preternaturally pissed-off puppets, and Killer Clowns from outer space, but sadly, for me, the creep-factor was a little low here; with all that being said, I still grooved on (doll) parts of it, in a gleefully goofy, Scooby-spooky-Goonies kinda' way! And kudos for bringing Teenwolf off the bench for a spell of grisly chicken rustling, as this lurid Lupus rocked my hen house, baby!!!! I also appreciated the delightfully doomy, faux-Gothic look of the film, Michael Burgess's lush-looking photography was pretty sweet, and the moody/retro Universal Horror, sinister smoke-slathered vibe was certainly not lost on me! And I jus' gotta say, Katie Sarife was a living doll! Aye! while the grimly ghost-wrangling Annabelle didn't quite ring my horror bell, I'd still be up for another round! As she's a pugnacious little cuss, and I respect that in a pint-sized protagonist!
