'Hit & Miss' (2012) – Hettie Macdonald & Sheree Folkson.
The compellingly made, robustly directed 'Hit & Miss' is a deliciously dark-tinted dicksploitation drama concerning the myriad changes in gifted transexual gangland Assassin Mia's life (Chloë Sevigny), a meticulous contract killer whose coldly isolated, inhospitably hermetic existence is demonstratively altered after she suddenly receives a fateful letter from long-neglected friend Wendy. While physically and mentally adept at efficiently dispatching the multitude of grisly hits ordered by underworld boss Eddie (Peter Wright), Mia soon becomes dangerously overwhelmed by the increasingly weighty responsibilities of her unforeseen, ill-fitting position of maternal guardian to her ex-lover Wendy's noisome, fractious brood, only to shockingly discover that sweet little Ryan is her own flesh and blood son! It proves to be an engrossing experience to witness granite-hard assassin Mia uncomfortably surrendering to her nurturing, maternal instincts, the benign echoes of her loving past rocking the tempered foundations to her glacial tower of isolation! Like the murderous tools of Mia's pitiless trade, 'Hit & Miss' is a sleekly fashioned, high-impact mini-series, and while the writing isn't always as keen-edged as it should be, Chloë Sevigny's strikingly sinewy performance as an exotic-looking death-dealer turned fleet-fisted family healer is a delirious, dead bang hit!
'Is that a Glock in your pocket, or are you just pleased to kill me?'
