'Trancers' (1984) – Charles Band. (Shorter review)

No less highly regarded than independent horror film impresario Charles band's 'Puppet Master' franchise, the delightfully playful, genre-hopping 'Trancers' stars Tim Thomerson, Helen Hunt in this time-warpingly wonderful, wet-haired, super-slick, squid-hating, wise-cracking 80s Sci-Horror hybrid, wherein hateful and haughty zombie-making villain Whistler (Michael Steffani) contrives some diabolically murderous maleficence by evilly helter skeltering back to sin-drenched L.A. Circa 1984 in order to assassinate the ancestors of the higher council members responsible for his hugely compromising bodily suspension in future, post apocalyptic Angel City. A thoroughly well deserved success on its initial 1984 release, and handsomely remastered on HD, Charles Band's smartly written, vibrantly acted, perfectly pulped, excitingly twin-fisted Sci-horror adventure remains a burnished mini-masterpiece that the deleterious passage of time can do little to tarnish. 'Trancers' remains a zippy, neon-bright, blissfully left-field B-Movie laser-blast from the hazy VHS past that is hard-wired to entrance a whole new generation of spaced-out, 23rd century Sci-action fans!
