'Monastery of Death (1998)??? 

 

I can heartily recommend this raven dark documentary about the infamous Solovetsky Monastery, once a serene place of learning and sanctuary that fatefully became one of Stalin's more notorious, and brutally murderous prison/death camps. Relentlessly grim, but undeniably fascinating viewing! - I could find VERY little information on this documentary masterpiece, outside of it being Russian, made in the late 90s, and that the text had been adapted by filmmaking legend Michael Powell.
