'Crazy Thunder Road' (1980) - Gakuryū Ishii.
Like the no less incandescent 'Wild Zero', & 'Burst City', Gakuryū Ishii's consistently inspired, locomotively loco 'Crazy Thunder Road' righteously deserves its cult status! This excitingly kinetic, grimly post apocalyptic, anarchy-fuelled, adrenaline-soaked, two wheel terror-thon remains a bona fide, balls out, maniacally Mad Maxing, heroically high octane example of jacked-up Japanese midnight movie mayhem! If bloody urban chaos at the rapacious hands of leather jacketed, hell raisin', grievously gang bangin', gas guzzling greasers, bellicose, buzz-sawing Japanese punk rock, and dingy dystopian biker movie tropes be your (body) bag, then Ishii's nihilistic, nitrous-infused 'Crazy Thunder Road' is just where you wanna be, dude!
