'Sword of The Beast' (1965) Dir. Hideo Gosha.

This tremendously exciting, intensely dramatic Jidaigeki from maestro, Hideo Gosha has an especially virile performance by handsome, Mikijirō Hira as the ill-fated exiled low-ranking samurai Gennosuke. Immaculately directed by Gosha, with brilliant performances, a rousing climax, and a nuenced, rigorously engaging text by, Gosha and, Eizaburo Shiba make the exemplary 'Sword of The Beast' an absolute must-see.
