'Schizo' (1976) - Pete Walker.

A stunningly pretty, distractingly nubile ice skater's (Lynne Frederick) impending nuptials to handsome businessman Alan (John leyton) attracts the increasingly malign attentions of a shadowy figure from her equally mysterious past! With gruesomely orchestrated set-pieces, a gratuitous seance, a prodigiously erotic protagonist, maestro Walker's twisted, Giallo-esque slasher remains essential viewing for vintage horror fans! Schizo's schlocky plot, impeccably 70s authenticity, and lively performances remain absolutely compelling, and the writer's brazen pilfering of an iconic scene from Dario Argento's 'Deep Red is certainly audacious, if not entirely original. While the fascinatingly grotesque Frightmare remains my go-to Pete Walker bloodbath, with each fresh viewing, my giddy appreciation of this deliriously demented thriller increases. I simply adore the goofy, one-note acting of their housekeeper (Queenie Watts), sultry Stephanie Beacham is always a delight, but it's the splendidly grisly factory showdown betwixt Golem-like Jack Watson and ice maiden Frederick that makes such an indelible impression!
