'Brass Tacks Reports' – 'Doing the Rounds' (1982).

Insightful documentary programme focussing on the ignoble plight of the many dispossessed mentally ill patients who must fend for themselves in a society that has all too little to offer them. They soon discover that 'Care in The Community' is a somewhat illusory term, and the much-needed care they require, is quite frequently, pointedly absent. Brass Tacks Reports – 'Doing the Rounds' is exemplary, hard-hitting, socially conscious telly. A very moving piece of investigative TV journalism, and there is great footage of the north of England in the early 80s. Cracking stuff, highly recommended, and certainly no less impactful when watched today!
