'Terminal' (2018) – Vaughan Stein.

The deliriously playful, visually sumptuous, super-stylised, Neon-Noir thriller 'Terminal' unexpectedly provided some  tantalizingly off-beat B-Movie treats! Generously bejewelled with dazzling performances, combined with vividly realised art direction, and amusingly bellicose banter make this hard-boiled, hyperreal hit man hoe down a wickedly watchable affair! It must also be said, the wonderfully charismatic actors Dexter Fletcher and Simon Pegg were both on especially engaging form here. And while it might be strongly argued that 'Terminal' is demonstratively more snazzy, eye-popping style than substance, perhaps, in this specific instance that just might be the very point, being undeniably cinematic and more than just a little bit naughty, mayte! The luxuriously photogenic Margot Robbie's mercurial murder mistress was a dangerously dazzling damsel of dispassionately delivered death, her morbidly mesmerizing Annie sinuously stalking this gaudy, shadow-slaked Sin City like some sinisterly sublime, stilleto-savvy, single-mindedly vengeful vixen! And while the twist proved elementary, 'Terminal' is still groovier fare than Watson telly, mayte!     

 

 

  

 

 

'Unconditional Love' (2001) – P.J. Hogan.

Produced by lauded comedy impresarios David & Jerry Zucker, amusingly shot by talented director P.J. Hogan, I found it a singular business that it took until now to discover this enjoyably camp, blissfully quirky, heart-swellingly sweet, engagingly acted comedy gem! Tall, garishly handsome Rupert Everett and the hugely personable Kathy Bates make for a splendidly sympathetic pair of mismatched comedically combative movie misfits, and their saltier exchanges being a real treat! The no less lively supporting cast proved no less sublime, with wonderfully nuanced work from theatre/film and TV legends Richard Briers, Lynn Redgrave, Dan Aykroyd, Jonathan Price, Julie Andrews, and a glitzy, memorably chintzy cameo from wizened songbird Barry Manilow, all that and a sardonic, pretty dwarf in a spiffy red raincoat! Not only is 'Unconditional Love' sweetly romantic and uncommonly charming it is enlivened with a witty, frequently flint-edged text and a few scintillatingly skewed left-turns that arguably makes it one of the very few warmly fuzzy films that can legitimately be called a feel-good screwball comedy! And, the deliciously effervescent icon Julie Andrews was on mellifluous, crowd pleasing form! And how can you not dig a film that includes the fabulous line 'Nobody messes with a dwarf in a raincoat!' especially when delivered with acidic aplomb by the scurrilously scene stealing Meredith Eaton, her diminutive stature doing very little to mute her charismatic, larger-than-life presence!

 

 

 

 'She-Devils on Wheels' (1969) H.G Lewis. 

These ferociously freaked-out,fearlessly free-wheeling, flesh-flaying felines are wheely far-out, feral Man-Eaters! Hopped-up Heavenly bodies, Hog-wild for sin, their blackened Kitty Kat claws deliciously deep in all manner of diabolical depravity! The She-Devils boorishly break their more-than willing studs in the scum-soaked saddle! and should you ever have the grave misfortune to cross these maniacal, Motorcycle murder-mad, rectum-wrecking wastoids, these vehicular vanquishing vixens will morbidly masticate your manhood for a perverse, post-coital snack! These insatiably anti-social, speed craving, testosterone trashing, sociopathic stiletto savages will drive you to the very brink of insanity! Morbidly Malign Man-Eaters who think nothing of terminally tantalizing your tumescence with an Amazonian avidity! They sure 'aint nobodies mama! Their livid loins dangerously aflame with desperately dismal desires! As only the stupidly brave or mentally deranged would dare to take a ride between the bloody streets of the monumentally Man-Eaters! Hell's very own Harley humping harlots,'She-Devils on Wheels' will take you on one redline reckless, titanically tweaked terror-trip you won't soon forget! So, Buckle up, Baby Blue! These bellicose, bike riding banshees are baying for your blood! Married to mania, divorced from reality! 'She-Devils on Wheels' are an Unchained malady!!!!'

 

 

'Perfect Skin' (2018) Kevin Chicken.

Kevin Chicken's claustrophobic, stylishly mounted Brit-shocker proved to be a pleasingly perverse psychodrama about a terminally twisted Tattooist's altogether sadistic fantasy that got WAY out of his tremulous hands! A fetishistic, fabulously transgressive, skin-prickingly sinister terror flick that I'm quite sure industrial music legend Genesis P. Orridge would have adored! Stunning Polish actress Natalia Kostrzewa is wholly remarkable as Katia, having to endure the most hideous travails as the unfortunate muse to the tyrannical, dangerously obsessive tattoo artist Bob (Richard Brake). This colourful creepshow might give some the needle, but it got right under my skin!
