A crude, yet likable troupe of rowdy carnies are brutally waylaid by masked maniacs on Halloween night, and forced to play 31, a sadistic game whereby they must all fight for their very lives!!!! Like Dr. Satan in HOATC before it, the energetically eviscerating 31 is all about the mayhemic murder skills of charismatically psychopathic Doom Head (Richard Brake). The stakes are high, as are most of the luridly plasma-plastered participants of Zombie's lustily limb-lopping lunacy, 31! I was hooked from the groovily James Ganged intro right until the divinely gore-glutted finale, and I hope I'm not the only splatter mad hatter that feels that way! A righteous score, scratchy Super-8 hate, kaleidoscopically calamitous carnage, enigmatic evildoers, gee willikers!!!! 31 proved to be a lucky number for me, daddio!
