'Day The World Ended' (1955) – Roger Corman.
Barely surviving a nuclear holocaust, seven increasingly querulous protagonists shelter in a secluded family home, nestled securely in a seemingly protected valley. The Day The World Ended remains a stone-cold classic 50s Sci-horror masterpiece, and if you need any more jazzier explanations, then you mos def ain't my kinda people. Maestro Corman sure knew his business, and the fact that so many of us are still enjoying his resplendent filmmaking efforts is objective proof positive of that, dude!!!!! Great atmosphere, quality text, compelling characters, a magnificent, maniacally mutated monster, and not an ounce of wasted celluloid, The Day The World Ended is the real deal, folks! On a more personal note, I have always found Richard Denning & Adel Jergens charismatic screen personalities to be immensely appealing! I'll happily take Day The World Ended over Threads any day, but, as in all things, my singular tastes are unfashionably mine own!
"He's a mutation, Rick, a freak of this new atomic world of ours!"
