'Bloodsport
II: The Next Kumite. (1996)' - Alan Mehrez.
All too few action fans remember the awkward moment when they released a belated sequel to Bloodsport WITHOUT JCVD & Bolo and no one turned up to see it! Historically, it has long been proven that the charismatic star who popularized the original version must unequivocally return to the franchise. To whit, Stallone returning to play affable pug Balboa proved no small part of Rocky II's commercial success.
Can
Daniel Bernhardt's James-Hong's taught Iron Fist beat the Demon
prison guard (Ong Soo Han) in the JCVD-less Bloodsport II? I'm one of the few that cared enough to find out. No disrespect
to Bernhardt, Pat Morita, Donald Gibb, and James Hong, but, frankly,
Kumite without JCVD is, for me, kinda like biting into a jam donut
and discovering that all the sugary strawberry jam's been sucked out, first
you get a little bit sad, and then, you can't help but feel cheated! It's a watchable, but weirdly hollow martial art flick.
