'Death Walks On High Heels' (1971) – Luciano Ercoli.

Revered Giallo stylist, Luciano Ercoli successfully reunites with many of the fine actors from his skull-wrecking slasher classic 'Death Walks at Midnight'. Urbane, Dr. Robert Matthews (Frank Wolff seemingly benign pursuit of vivaciously curvaceous burlesque dancer, Nicole (Susan Scott) proves vexatious to her dipsomaniac, knife-throwing boyfriend, Michel (Simon Andreau). Ernesto Gastaldi and co-writer, May Valasco's labyrinthine, red herring-clotted, Love triangle'd plot has the additional ballast of stolen diamonds, and an electric blue-eyed, voice-box articulating, razor-wielding maniac! This volatile admixture of deadly duplicity, sexual intrigue, and ardent fireside fornications retains all its tantalizingly voyeuristic power! The scheming protagonists desperate to retrieve the glistering booty from its elusive hiding place, with the stolid, amusingly sardonic inspector Baxter (Carlo Gentili)proving himself a most adept adversary!

Excluding the iconoclastic lack of J&B Whiskey,'Death Walks On High Heels' is arguably one of the quintessential 70s Gialli. Ercoli glamorously utilizes exciting, visually stimulating locations, deliriously jet-setting between the sinfully seamy Parisian nightspots, and the bracing bucolic beauty of England's rugged coastline. This joyfully convoluted, stiletto-cool thriller, with its kaleidoscopic array of intimate razor-slashing, sensually sinister death making, and Susan Scott's fiesty, delicious-looking damsel under diabolical duress makes for a timelessly exhilarating Gialli experience! Luciano Ercoli artfully orchestrates this exquisitely mounted murder mayhem with elan, his scintillating set-pieces augmented by one of the most mellifluously memorable scores from maestro, Stelvio Cipriani.

'A kaleidoscopically kooky, Go-Go dancing, girl-goring Giallo classic from Italian Sinema's golden era of grisly glamour!' - Weirdlingwolf.
