 'Tomboy' (2016) – Walter Hill.

The iconic, and wildly influential action director Walter Hill memorably created many of the most dynamically diverting, indelibly inventive, and iconoclastic action films of the 80s, and enjoying no less of a successful run of blisteringly bombastic shoot 'em ups in the 90s, with his grimly gender bending, penis shedding, bullet shredding, darkly vengeful 'Tomboy' perhaps referencing his snakeskin-cool, noirish cult crime classic 'Johnny Handsome', but in this instance the 'poles' are quite literally reversed, as successful, more than capable assassin Frank Kitchen (Michelle Rodriguez) falls dangerously foul of a client, Frank fatefully ends up in the mercilessly skilled, diabolically demented hands of 'The Doctor'(Sigourney Weaver), and after an emotionally fraught, physically painful rehabilitation, fuzz-faced Frank returns to the fray as sinuously slinky, six-gun siren 'Tomboy'. This exquisitely efficient exterminator is one delicious-looking, dead-bang deadly, Thug-trashing Tomcat, hell bent on exacting her fleet-fisted, Baretta-blastingly brutal revenge on all those duplicitous underworld denizens that done her so wickedly wrong! To say that the film's delightfully pulpy premise is seriously skewed is no less of a grievous understatement than claiming Stalin was an occasional grouch, and that Andy Warhol was only just a bit of an egregious rump-nugget. Assured action stylist Walter Hill's deliriously far-fetched, unrepentantly gun-happy shoot 'em up is a hyped up, haemoglobin heavy B-Movie blast, with charismatic star Michelle Rodriguez energetically making for a balls out, explosively exquisite schizo skell slayer, both ferociously feline and murderously male...This nefariously neutered tomcat still has her claws!'
